Police Unearth Hidden Kalashnikov Rifle in Nazareth Garden Bed

Police in northern Israel discovered a Kalashnikov rifle concealed underground in a garden bed outside a home in Nazareth. The weapon was found wrapped in aluminum foil, apparently an attempt to hinder its detection.

The discovery occurred during a targeted operation by officers from the Northern District against the illegal possession of weapons. Police raided the home of a 23-year-old Nazareth resident suspected of holding illegal arms.

Initially, officers searched the interior of the house without success. Their search then extended to the yard, where a specific garden bed drew their suspicion. Using a metal detector and physical digging, officers unearthed the rifle buried deep within the soil.

The rifle was seized and sent for forensic examination. The suspect was arrested and taken for questioning by the Central Unit of the Emekim region. Authorities are expected to request an extension of his detention from the court based on the ongoing investigation.
