Maccabi Launches Online Menopause Clinic for Women
Maccabi Healthcare Services is launching a nationwide online clinic dedicated to women experiencing menopause, beginning in early September. The new service aims to provide women aged 50-55 with free, remote, personalized medical consultations and professional support. The clinic will be staffed by Maccabi doctors who have received specialized training in menopause care.
The initiative seeks to improve accessibility and reduce waiting times for women seeking help with menopausal symptoms. A significant percentage of women in this age group experience symptoms such as hot flashes, fatigue, sleep disturbances, and mood swings, which can impact their quality of life. Despite the prevalence of these symptoms, studies indicate that only a small fraction of women seek medical advice, often suffering in silence.
Eligible women who have seen a gynecologist within the last two years and are not on hormone therapy can schedule virtual appointments via video or phone call. These consultations will include a comprehensive medical assessment, symptom evaluation, personalized treatment recommendations, and referrals if necessary. For women who haven't seen a gynecologist recently, an initial in-person appointment will be required before accessing the online service.
This online clinic is part of Maccabi's broader focus on longevity and women's health, emphasizing proactive care and early symptom identification. Maccabi CEO Sigal Dodedon-Levi stated that the clinic aligns with the organization's shift towards preventive medicine, empowering members to manage their health effectively throughout their lives. Dr. Vered Kleitman Meir, Director of Gynecology at Maccabi, added that the service aims to ensure women receive optimal support during this life stage, addressing symptoms and improving quality of life.
Dr. Tanya Kardash, Director of Remote Medicine at Maccabi, highlighted that telemedicine removes barriers of distance and availability, making specialized care more accessible. She noted that the online clinic complements existing community-based gynecology services, creating a seamless and personalized treatment continuum for patients across the country.
