Hapoel Tel Aviv Undergoes Major Shakeup in Management and Ownership

Hapoel Tel Aviv Football Club is undergoing significant changes in its management and ownership structure as it prepares for the 2026-27 season. In a major shakeup, CEO Tzachi Reichenstein, who worked closely with owner Ofer Yanai for nearly three years, has departed. Oren Hason has stepped into the CEO role, moving from his position as chairman. Stav Shaham is the new chairman and is reportedly aiming to assert his influence and implement changes.

Further restructuring has diluted Ofer Yanai's ownership stake to 40%. The remaining ownership is now split equally among Gili Ranana, Miki Malka, and Alan Howard, each holding 20%. This shift has already caused internal friction and controversy.

One such incident involved a reported, and later officially denied, inquiry to Maccabi Tel Aviv regarding playing in the Super Cup without a limit on foreign players. A senior Hapoel official stated that if such a request was made by any club member to a Maccabi Tel Aviv executive, it was not sanctioned by the club's management. "Nobody in the current structure has permission to make contact on their own about such sensitive issues, and it must go through the management," the source said, emphasizing the start of a "new era" that everyone must adapt to.
