Israeli Influencers Share Top Holiday Cleaning Hacks
As the High Holidays approach, Israeli cleaning influencers are offering their best tips to get homes sparkling. While Passover is known as the "cleaning holiday," Rosh Hashanah also presents an opportunity to refresh living spaces before a season of hosting and family gatherings.
Mor Benaim, an influencer focused on cleaning and home design, shared a method for removing oil stains from clothing using baking soda, parchment paper, and an iron, followed by a machine wash. She also advised cleaning the lint trap area of dryers monthly to improve drying efficiency and suggested checking for a hidden compartment in the gel drawer of many washing machines.
Actress and parenting instructor Noa Vollman shared a window track cleaning trick learned from her mother-in-law, using paper towels and cleaning spray. Linor Pahima, known as Linicleani, recommended cleaning often-overlooked areas like door frames and handles with a magic eraser, and offered a DIY spray for glass, laminate, and stainless steel surfaces made from water, rinse aid, dish soap, and vinegar to combat fingerprints.
Cleaning blogger Ligal Avidan suggested a solution for shower glass limescale using citric acid, hot water, and cold water, applied via a spray bottle. Smadar Gevso of "Smadar's Scents" advised adding a packet of baking soda to white laundry for brighter results and shared a cleaning mixture of pine gel and vinegar for floors, sofas, and countertops. Gevso also provided detailed instructions for cleaning air conditioners, including photographing filters before removal, washing them, and using a soft brush for air vents.
Additional tips include Gevso's method for cleaning wooden spoons by boiling them with dish soap and baking soda, and using toothpaste to remove limescale from faucets. Ann Schusterman of "Marmor House" demonstrated cleaning silver with aluminum foil, boiling water, and baking soda, and stainless steel appliances with shaving cream. Shir Cohen recommended placing coarse salt in toothbrush holders to absorb moisture and odors in bathrooms, using a dryer sheet at the bottom of trash cans for freshness, and sachets of scented beads for closets and drawers.
