Hapoel Tel Aviv's Request for Unlimited Foreign Players Denied by Maccabi Tel Aviv

Hapoel Tel Aviv has been denied its request to allow an unlimited number of foreign players for the upcoming Israeli Basketball Super Cup game against Maccabi Tel Aviv. The request was made in a letter sent by Hapoel Tel Aviv to Maccabi Tel Aviv, aiming to allow fans to "get to know the team" before the season begins. The Super Cup game is scheduled for September 17th at Menora Mivtachim Arena, with a significant majority of Maccabi Tel Aviv fans expected to attend.

Maccabi Tel Aviv rejected the proposal, stating that the game is an official Israeli league match governed by the league administration and that there is no reason to alter standard procedures. The league administration also confirmed they would not have approved the request even if Maccabi had agreed.

Both teams will participate in a preseason tournament during the Rosh Hashanah holiday. For Hapoel Tel Aviv, this will be their first game in Israel this season before they return to Bulgaria to prepare for a game against French team ASVEL. Both Hapoel and Maccabi will join the Winner Cup tournament in the quarterfinals in early October, after playing three EuroLeague games.
