Basketball Super Cup Dispute: Hapoel Tel Aviv Denied Full Foreign Player Roster by Maccabi Tel Aviv
A dispute has emerged between Tel Aviv's two major basketball clubs, Hapoel Tel Aviv and Maccabi Tel Aviv, ahead of the upcoming Super Cup, which marks the start of the Israeli basketball season. Hapoel Tel Aviv formally requested that Maccabi Tel Aviv allow all foreign players to be registered for the Super Cup game. The request, sent in a letter, aimed to align the game's format with EuroLeague regulations, enabling fans to see all the new players on the team.
However, Maccabi Tel Aviv rejected Hapoel's proposal. Both teams will be limited to registering five foreign players, consistent with the rules for the Israeli Premier League. The Super Cup game is scheduled for September 17th at Menora Mivtachim Arena.
