Likud Condemns Protest Signs Targeting Knesset Speaker Ohana's Children

The Likud party has issued a strong condemnation following the placement of protest signs outside the school attended by the children of Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana. The signs, which appeared on Tuesday, depicted Ohana's image alongside inflammatory messages such as "No atonement for the collaborator with Hamas's financier" and "Collaborator with theft and plunder."

Ohana himself shared photos of the signs on social media, expressing his distress. "There is no more violent, abhorrent, and vile camp than the one capable of soiling the first day of school for my children, Ella and David, who are going to the fifth grade this morning," he wrote. He noted that the signs lined the entire route from their home to the school, stating they were intended not for him, but for his children and their classmates.

In its statement, Likud attacked Yair Golan, chairman of the "Democrats" party, calling on him to denounce the involvement of protest activists within his party who supported the incident. "Likud condemns the despicable conduct towards the young children of Knesset Speaker Amir Ohana on their way to school," the party said. "We call on Yair Golan to unequivocally condemn the act and the support for this act by members of his party, Ami Dror and Amir Sperling."

Likud further argued that the party's endorsement of the "cynical use of family members and minors is violent and crosses a red line, and any connection between it and democracy is purely coincidental."
