Debrecen Interested in Sacca’s Top Scorer Ahmed Salman

Hungarian club Debrecen is interested in Ahmed Salman, the 22-year-old top scorer for Bnei Sakhnin, according to a first report on Sport 5. The club followed him during the season, and he could join Debrecen alongside Rotem Keller, who arrived from Maccabi Netanya.

Salman enjoyed a strong campaign with six goals and three assists. He spent parts of the season as a winger in a back three, and was also used as a striker and as a second striker, which earned him strong praise from coaches Sharon Mimar and Yossi Abukasis. He was Sakhnin’s leading scorer this season.

Salman made his senior debut five years ago with Hapoel Jerusalem, where he was in the starting lineup. That same summer he was part of Ophir Haim’s Israel Under-19 team that reached the Euro U19 final, losing to England. He scored against Serbia and started alongside Oscar Gloukh, Tai Abed and Dor Turgeman, all of whom already play abroad.

The following January, Maccabi Netanya bought him for NIS 1 million, and he spent 18 months with the club. About two years ago, when Sahar Taji moved to Netanya, Salman went in the opposite direction. Bnei Sakhnin has rarely exported players abroad, with Hassan Hilo, who moved to Jubilo Iwata in Japan, and Ihab Ganaem, who joined Aktobe in Kazakhstan, among the few exceptions.
