Air Force commander says Iran strike was halted an hour before takeoff
Israeli Air Force Commander Maj. Gen. Omer Tischler issued a letter to air force personnel about the latest escalation with Iran. He wrote that it is still too early to know how recent global developments will affect the security situation, and noted that this week marks one year since Operation Rising Lion.
Tischler said the operation was the first time the Air Force achieved air superiority over Tehran’s skies. According to him, the campaign significantly reduced the threat, prolonged the recovery period, and preserved Israel’s ability to act in Iran again whenever needed.
He also addressed the canceled Israeli strike in Iran during the recent escalation. Tischler said that just hours after the launch order, the attack was stopped while crews were being briefed in the squadrons, only one hour before the aircraft were due to depart.
