Man Rescued After Falling Into Deep Well Near Kibbutz Yakum

A complex rescue operation took place on Monday afternoon in an open area east of Kibbutz Yakum in central Israel, where a man approximately 35 years old fell into a well about 12 meters deep. Emergency forces, including Magen David Adom (MDA) paramedics and firefighters, were dispatched to the scene.

Rescuers found the man conscious but suffering from back injuries and exhaustion. Initial reports stated the well was 12 meters deep, but it was later clarified to be approximately 6 meters deep. MDA paramedics and firefighters descended into the well to provide initial medical treatment while carrying out the intricate rescue.

Paramedics Lior Zilberberg and Mohammed Hazem described the challenging terrain and the discovery of the man at the bottom of the well. They communicated with him and, with the firefighters' assistance, provided him with initial medical care for his exhaustion and back injury.

Following the extraction, the man was transported to Meir Hospital in Kfar Saba in moderate condition. MDA reported that medical treatment was administered both inside the well and during the evacuation. The incident highlights the dangers of open areas with old wells or abandoned structures, with emergency services urging the public to exercise caution and report any exposed wells to the authorities.

Similar incidents have occurred recently, including the rescue of three sheep and a goat from a 12-meter well near Shoham and a two-year-old child from a 4-meter well near Modi'in.
