Eyal Berkovich Cuts Ties With Friends Over Netanyahu Support

Former Israeli football star Eyal Berkovich revealed on the "Ha'Patriotim" (The Patriots) program that he has severed ties with friends due to their strong support for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. Berkovich stated he cannot tolerate his friends being "Bibi-ists," a term referring to staunch Netanyahu supporters.

Berkovich engaged in a heated discussion with fellow panelist Erel Segal, who questioned the morality of ostracizing individuals based on their political leanings. Berkovich defended his actions, explaining that he finds it difficult to associate with those he perceives as blindly supporting Netanyahu, even stating, "I can't stand that you are blind, that you are slaves."

Segal challenged Berkovich, asking if he believed people should not be boycotted for their political choices. Berkovich responded that personal relationships can have consequences based on political decisions, emphasizing that his choice to distance himself comes with personal costs.

Segal also reminded Berkovich of his past support for Netanyahu, suggesting Berkovich himself was once a "Bibi-ist" before changing his views. Berkovich countered that he had "woken up" and expressed bewilderment that Segal had not done the same.
