Maccabi Haifa Secures Yarin Levi Amidst Transfer Speculation

Maccabi Haifa has made significant efforts to ensure young midfielder Yarin Levi remains with the club this season. The 21-year-old, who returned from a loan spell at Beitar Jerusalem, was offered an attractive contract last season and agreed to sign. However, anticipating the possibility of losing him this year, the club presented an upgraded contract to secure his presence at least until the end of the current season.

Club owner Yaakov Shahar conveyed to Levi and his representatives that his priority is for Levi to play for Maccabi Haifa's senior team, having developed in the club's youth system. Shahar also indicated that the club would not impede Levi's desire to play abroad in the future.

Levi reportedly rejected an offer from Major League Soccer (MLS) at this stage of his career. Several European clubs expressed interest, but these did not materialize into formal offers. According to a gentleman's agreement with Maccabi Haifa, any transfer would require a bid of at least 2.5 million euros, with Beitar Jerusalem entitled to half of that amount.

Beitar Jerusalem had hoped Levi would continue with them, given his standout performances over two seasons that led to his inclusion in the Israeli national team. They also preferred a sale abroad rather than strengthening a domestic rival. Hapoel Be'er Sheva also showed interest but recognized Maccabi Haifa's strong desire to keep Levi.

Maccabi Haifa's management, professional director Lior Raphaolov, and coach Barak Bakhar highly value Levi, entrusting him with a key role in the defensive midfield, ahead of players like Ali Mohamed and Nivat Ratner. The club is optimistic about his potential and pleased with the fan support for a homegrown player.

Levi, who observes Shabbat, has been provided with accommodation near the training facilities and stadium to facilitate his participation in weekend activities. Coach Bakhar commented on Levi's integration, stating, "I am happy he is at Maccabi Haifa. He returned after two significant years at Beitar Jerusalem. I see him progressing from game to game. He is not expected to be the most significant player, but an important part of a good midfield. He still has much to improve and learn, and he is doing so."
