News Anchors' Surprise Reunion at Athens Airport

During a morning broadcast on Israel's Channel 14, news anchor Dana Varon was surprised by a photo of herself with colleague Tal Meir at Athens International Airport. The segment, hosted by Dor Azrad, featured his "Good Moments of the People of Israel" corner, which typically showcases uplifting stories.

Azrad presented the photo before delving into his planned content, explaining that viewers had inquired about the whereabouts of both Varon and Meir. Varon then shared the story behind the unexpected encounter. She explained that she and Meir, who were both on separate family vacations, coincidentally met at the airport just before their return flights to Israel.

Varon recounted how she playfully approached Meir from behind and covered her eyes. Meir, startled, initially reacted with fear, reportedly due to concerns about antisemitism in Athens. However, her surprise turned to joy upon realizing it was Varon.

The two anchors shared a happy reunion, complete with hugs and photos, exchanging stories from their respective holidays. Varon described Meir as a "beloved and very special soul." Azrad concluded the anecdote by expressing happiness that both anchors enjoyed their vacations. He then transitioned to his segment, mentioning his recent attendance at Selichot prayers at the Western Wall, which he estimated drew around 50,000 people.
