Attorney Yoram Sheftel Warns of Catastrophic Right-Wing Split

Attorney Yoram Sheftel expressed grave concern on morning radio regarding a potential scenario where a split in the right-wing bloc could lead to a loss of crucial Knesset seats and the formation of a left-wing government. Speaking on Avi Ratzon's program on Radio Galey Israel, Sheftel highlighted the precarious position of parties hovering around the electoral threshold.

He warned that parties like "Winter" (likely referring to a party led by a figure named Winter, though not explicitly stated) could fail to pass the threshold, even with a significant number of votes, especially if those votes are drawn from supporters of other right-wing factions like Smotrich's party, which recently united with Feiglin. Sheftel described a "horrific situation" where both Winter and Smotrich could fall short of the 3.25% electoral threshold, resulting in an "absolutely fanatical extreme left-wing government."

Amid fears of separate runs, Sheftel urged Prime Minister Netanyahu to intervene immediately to prevent a collapse within the right-wing camp. He called for Netanyahu to make a final attempt to bring Smotrich and Ben-Gvir into a single room and use his influence to ensure they run together, at least as a technical bloc.

Sheftel emphasized that if such a move fails and the right-wing loses seats, the responsibility would fall squarely on Ben-Gvir if he insists on separate runs and either Winter or Smotrich, or both, fail to pass the electoral threshold.
