PM's Office Spent $12,000 on Influencer Campaign for Jewish Fast Day
The Prime Minister's Office spent 45,000 shekels (approximately $12,000) on a campaign featuring Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) female influencers to prepare for the Tisha B'Av fast day. The campaign, which included videos with recipes and tips, was promoted with the tagline "In cooperation with the Haredi Authority in the Prime Minister's Office." Six influencers participated in the campaign.
The Prime Minister's Office did not provide a reason for funding the campaign when responding to a freedom of information request. The Haredi Authority, officially named the Authority for Social-Economic Development of the Haredi Sector, aims to advance the economic and social development of the Haredi community.
An organization called 'Tzlalmo', which filed the freedom of information request, criticized the expenditure. They stated that the authority should prioritize more critical issues within the Haredi community, such as English studies and road safety, rather than spending money on recipes. The videos were published last month.
