PM's Office Spent $12,000 on Influencer Campaign for Jewish Fast Day
The Prime Minister's Office spent 45,000 shekels (approximately $12,000) on a campaign featuring Haredi (ultra-Orthodox) female influencers to prepare for the Tisha B'Av fast day. The campaign, which included videos with recipes and tips, was promoted in collaboration with the Haredi Authority within the Prime Minister's Office.
Six influencers participated in the campaign, which ran last month. The Prime Minister's Office has not provided a reason for funding the campaign, according to a freedom of information request. The Haredi Authority's official name is the Authority for Social-Economic Development of the Haredi Sector, and its stated goal is to advance the economic and social development of the Haredi community.
An organization called 'Bead Chaimo', which filed the freedom of information request, criticized the expenditure. "There are so many things to promote in the Haredi society, English studies, road safety, and countless other things. It's a shame the Authority is burning money for recipes instead of things that are truly important," a spokesperson for the organization stated.
