Prominent Rabbis Attend Bris for Editor's Son, Surprise Name Revealed

A circumcision ceremony for the son of Shlomo Kook, chief editor of the Haredi weekly "Bakehila" and grandson of Rabbi Ben Zion HaCohen Kook, was held in Jerusalem. The event at the "Entrecote" restaurant was attended by numerous figures from the rabbinical, political, business, and media worlds.

The role of Sandak, who holds the baby during the ceremony, was filled by Rabbi Mordechai Suissa, a prominent rabbi from Bat Yam. The blessing of the circumcision was delivered by Rabbi Ben Zion HaCohen Kook, who notably used a special tallit (prayer shawl) that belonged to his teacher, Rabbi Elyashiv, during his own study sessions.

A particularly moving moment occurred during the naming of the child, when Rabbi Ben Zion HaCohen Kook announced the name: Avraham Yitzchak HaCohen Kook. This name surprised and touched many of the attendees.

Rabbi Kalman Meir Bar, the Chief Rabbi of Israel, was honored with standing for blessings. During the celebratory meal, Rabbi Bar praised Shlomo Kook, calling him an "ambassador for sanctifying God's name in the media" and shared that he reads Kook's writings weekly.

The ceremony also featured Rabbi Moshe Weisberg, chairman of the Mohels Union of the Chief Rabbinate, as the mohel (circumciser), and Rabbi Aryeh Leib Pepper, publisher of "Bakehila," sat in the Chair of Elijah. Musical performances were provided by singers Chaim Yisrael, Kobi Brumer, Shimi Weiss, and Kobi Mirsky, accompanied by musicians Shreaga Frank, Klezmer musicians, and keyboardist Erale Goldman. The event concluded with a moving musical session featuring songs for the High Holy Days.
