Haredi Editor Shlomo Kook Names Son After Renowned Rabbi Abraham Isaac Kook

Shlomo Kook, editor of the Haredi newspaper "B’Kehila" and son of Jerusalem rabbi Ben Zion Kook, held the brit milah ceremony for his newborn son on Wednesday. He named the baby Abraham Isaac in honor of his great uncle, Rabbi Abraham Isaac HaCohen Kook, the late head of Mercaz HaRav yeshiva and a foundational figure in Religious Zionism. Rabbi Kook was also the founder of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel. The naming is notable given Shlomo Kook’s role as editor of a Haredi publication, highlighting a connection to his distinguished family heritage. The brit milah was attended by family members, journalists, and media figures. Chief Rabbi of Israel Kalman Bar and Knesset member Yitzhak Goldknopf also participated and were honored with reciting blessings during the ceremony.
