Former Combat Soldier Hadar Hofenberg Releases Debut Single 'Selicha'

Hadar Hofenberg, a former combat soldier in the Caracal Battalion who received the President's Excellence Award, is launching her music career with the release of her debut single, "Selicha" (Forgiveness). The song, set to be released ahead of the High Holidays, explores themes of faith, personal struggles, and the recognition that God is present even in difficult times.

Hofenberg served for three years as a sharpshooter in the Caracal Battalion, an infantry unit known for its mixed-gender combat roles, and was honored with the President's Award for her actions during an incident on the Egyptian border. Her musical journey began at age five, performing alongside her father, Erez Meshulam, a theater director. By age twelve, she was performing professionally in theater productions across Israel.

"Selicha" was written from Hofenberg's personal experience grappling with trust, vulnerability, and self-assertion. The lyrics also address the challenge of perceiving divine presence during complex periods, not just during good times, and the understanding that human control is limited. The song is a plea for forgiveness for moments of despair and insecurity, followed by an affirmation of faith in God's presence through both kindness and judgment.

The single is the first taste of Hofenberg's upcoming album, which is slated for release this winter.
