US Arab-American Museum to Screen Film Justifying Oct. 7 Hamas Attack

The Arab American National Museum (AANM) in Dearborn, Michigan, is scheduled to screen a documentary titled "Seeds for Liberation" on September 10, which frames the October 7 Hamas attack as part of a "struggle for liberation from colonialism." The film reportedly does not depict the massacre of civilians but rather presents the events as a continuation of a decades-long Palestinian struggle against imperialism.

The decision to screen the film the day before the anniversary of the September 11th attacks has sparked outrage among conservative groups and lawmakers in the U.S. Dearborn, a city with a large Arab-American population, has become a focal point for political tensions regarding Israel and U.S. foreign policy.

According to a Fox News report, the museum's exhibits also feature strong criticism of Israel, including artwork accusing the country of apartheid and illegal occupation. One display uses data from DCI-P, an organization designated as a terror group by Israel due to its ties to the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine. Another exhibit quotes a pro-Palestinian website that has published articles questioning Hamas's terror designation and has faced accusations of antisemitism.

The museum's gift shop sells merchandise depicting a map of "Palestine" that erases Israel and children's coloring books promoting the Palestinian narrative. The museum receives institutional and financial support from the U.S. federal government, including a partnership with the Smithsonian Institution and hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grants over the years.
