US Arab-American Museum to Screen Film Justifying Oct. 7 Hamas Attack

The Arab American National Museum (AANM) in Dearborn, Michigan, is set to screen a documentary titled "Seeds for Liberation" on September 10, which frames the October 7 Hamas attack as part of a "struggle for liberation from colonialism." The film reportedly does not depict the massacre of civilians but rather contextualizes the events within a broader "decades-long Palestinian struggle" and "anti-imperialist" movements.

The screening's timing, one day before the anniversary of the September 11th attacks, has sparked outrage among conservative groups and lawmakers in the U.S. Dearborn, often referred to as the Arab-Muslim capital of the U.S., has become a focal point for political and ideological tensions regarding Israel and U.S. foreign policy.

According to a Fox News investigation, the museum's exhibits also promote a strong anti-Israel narrative. Displays reportedly accuse Israel of apartheid and illegal occupation, and feature materials from organizations designated as terrorist by Israel, such as DCI-P (Defense for Children International, Palestine). Some exhibits cite extremist pro-Palestinian websites that have been criticized for antisemitism and white supremacist ties.

Further fueling the controversy, the museum sells merchandise that omits Israel from maps and features children's coloring books promoting the Palestinian narrative. The AANM receives institutional and financial support from the U.S. federal government, including a partnership with the Smithsonian Institution and hundreds of thousands of dollars in federal grants over the years.
