Three explosions reported near the Strait of Hormuz
Iranian media reported three explosions on Tuesday in southern Qeshm Island and in the Strait of Hormuz area. The report came from the Mehr news agency, which said the blasts were heard shortly after another Iranian outlet, Fars, reported that the strait had been reopened to traffic and that the first ships had passed through.
Initial reports suggested the explosions could be connected to the management of shipping traffic in the area, after Iranian officials said the American blockade of Hormuz had been lifted. The reports did not say what caused the blasts or whether any damage or casualties were involved.
As of now, no official response has been issued by the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps, local authorities, or any other Iranian source. The situation in the strategic waterway remains unclear pending further confirmation.
