Israeli Guesthouse Owner Assaulted After Asking Visitors to Lower Loud Music

Eitan Lindenberg, 76, from the moshav Sde Eliyahu, was violently attacked after politely asking guests at his guesthouse to reduce the volume of their loud music. The incident occurred when Lindenberg noticed the disruptive noise coming from a large speaker at the property and approached the guests to request lowering the volume out of respect for neighbors and other visitors. Instead of complying, one female guest shouted insults at him, escalating the confrontation.

The situation turned violent when the woman's partner suddenly attacked Lindenberg, grabbing him by the throat, knocking him to the ground, and sitting on him until bystanders intervened. Lindenberg’s wife immediately ordered the guests to leave and the family called the police and emergency medical services. Lindenberg, who suffers from heart problems, was left shaken and injured by the assault.

Lindenberg, who has hosted tourists since 1991, described the attack as unprecedented in his decades of experience. The police detained the suspect for questioning, and Lindenberg provided a statement and video evidence of the attack. Despite the trauma, Lindenberg does not plan to stop hosting but expressed concern about the unpredictability of guests and the rise of violence in such situations.

He reflected on the humiliation he felt, noting he could be the father of the attacker and that his simple request for consideration was met with aggression. Lindenberg hopes this remains an isolated incident, emphasizing that most of their guests over the years have been wonderful people.
