US Holds Hezbollah Responsible for Israeli Presence in Lebanon, Calls for Disarmament

For this reason, the US insists that Hezbollah must be disarmed. The official described the "disengagement zones" mechanism as the only practical path toward achieving long-term peace and security for both Lebanon and Israel. The US expects the Lebanese army to complete its clearance and evacuation operations in the initial disengagement zones before expanding the process further. Disarming Hezbollah is a fundamental part of this plan.
