Shas chairman Aryeh Deri spoke at an event a day after the Knesset passed the Basic Law on Torah Study, sharply attacking the attorney general, High Court justices, and opponents of the law. He defended Torah learners and said Shas does not neglect soldiers, adding that the arrests of Torah learners are “a great indictment” against the people of Israel.
