Aryeh Deri of Shas attacked Likud MKs after the Knesset gave preliminary approval to the Basic Law: Torah Study, and vowed to work to stop arrests of draft dodgers. The bill passed 56 to 43, while some Arab MKs were absent and several Likud lawmakers, along with one Religious Zionism MK, voted against it. Separately, dozens of detainees arrested after unrest at the home of Supreme Court Justice Noam Sohlberg were released, and some were transferred to military police as draft dodgers.
