Intruder Falls Asleep on Sofa After Breaking Into Tel Aviv Apartment

Police in Tel Aviv responded to a report of a suspicious person inside an apartment on Dafna Street early Saturday morning. Upon entering the residence, officers discovered the suspect asleep on the living room sofa, while the apartment's residents were also home and asleep.

Initial investigations revealed that the suspect, a 29-year-old Tel Aviv resident, allegedly entered the apartment during the night and fell asleep. Police arrested him for further questioning.

This unusual arrest was part of a broader weekend operation by police in the Yarkon district targeting property criminals. During the operation, which included covert and overt measures, seven suspects were arrested in connection with various burglaries and thefts, including three residents from the Palestinian territories. Stolen property, believed to be linked to the thefts, was also recovered.

In a separate incident on Friday, August 29, police arrested two young residents of Jaffa after they were caught dragging a motorcycle suspected of being recently stolen from Nachalat Binyamin Street in Tel Aviv. They were found in possession of burglary tools and their detention was extended by the court.

Additionally, on Friday, August 28, police in Modi'in arrested a resident of the Palestinian territories who was in Israel without proper permits. He was found with a luxury electric scooter suspected of being stolen from Herzliya. His arrest was also extended by the court. Two other cases involved residents of the Palestinian territories apprehended in the Yarkon area with stolen micro-mobility devices.
