Israeli Police Arrest Suspect in High-Profile Mafia Killing in Hadera Warehouse

Israeli security forces arrested the main suspect in the assassination of Yanis Yusubayev, a leading figure in the Caucasian mafia, in a dramatic raid on a warehouse in Hadera. The operation, carried out by about 15 heavily armed Yamam special forces officers, took place on Wednesday afternoon in a ground-floor warehouse of a residential building in a populated neighborhood, causing alarm among local residents who initially feared a terrorist attack. Eyewitnesses described the tense scene as the officers quickly subdued the suspect, handcuffed him, and conducted a thorough search of the premises.

Yusubayev was fatally shot on Sunday outside a restaurant near a gas station in Caesarea. He had arrived for a planned meeting when a professional assassin ambushed him at close range. Despite emergency medical efforts, Yusubayev died at Hillel Yaffe Medical Center in Hadera. Analysts have suggested the killer was a highly skilled professional, possibly a foreign mercenary.

Yusubayev was a notorious crime boss involved in numerous violent disputes and criminal cases over more than a decade in the Hadera region. His name surfaced in a 2015 investigation into the murder of former prisoner Alchin Abshiev, with suspicions that Yusubayev ordered the hit. In 2017, Abshiev’s brother retaliated by shooting Yusubayev during a mourning event, seriously wounding him and later receiving a prison sentence. This long-standing blood feud culminated in Yusubayev’s recent assassination and the swift capture of the suspect in Hadera.

The arrest operation highlights ongoing efforts by Israeli law enforcement to dismantle organized crime networks and bring perpetrators to justice amid heightened public concern over violent mafia activity.
