Main Suspect Denies Killing Caucasian Mafia Boss; Detention Extended
One day after several suspects were arrested in connection with the murder of Yanis Yushebiev, the head of the Caucasian mafia, the main suspect's detention was extended by nine days until next Thursday. The suspect's lawyer, Yaron Shomron, stated that his client denies the charges and noted the court significantly shortened the police's requested detention period. He expressed confidence that the situation will become clearer in the coming days and that his client will be released.
Yanis Yushebiev, 45, from Or Akiva, was shot dead on Sunday while leaving a restaurant at a gas station. Magen David Adom (MDA) teams provided emergency medical treatment and transported him to Hillel Yaffe Hospital in Hadera, where he was pronounced dead shortly after arrival. MDA paramedics Idan Almalach, Shoham Asraf, and Elhanan Kfir reported arriving at the scene to find Yushebiev unconscious, without pulse or breathing, and suffering from severe penetrating injuries.
