Ra'am Chairman Mansour Abbas and MK Yoav Segalovitz Prepare Joint Announcement on Political Alliance

Ra'am party chairman Mansour Abbas and Member of Knesset Yoav Segalovitz are set to announce Segalovitz's joining of the party, likely on Saturday night, according to a report by Kan News on Wednesday. Following a successful meeting, the two have agreed on most terms, including Segalovitz running as an independent candidate on Ra'am's list and receiving freedom to vote independently on civil rights issues.

Abbas plans to address a proposal for civil service within the Arab community during the campaign, though Ra'am will not officially commit to a specific plan at this stage. The joint statement, still to be scheduled but expected Saturday night, will emphasize a civic partnership aimed at addressing pressing issues.

A senior Ra'am official noted that Abbas's recent social media post recognizing Israel as a "Jewish state" was intended to balance internal criticism within Ra'am regarding Segalovitz's inclusion. Additionally, Abbas recently conveyed to leaders of the "Change Bloc" that Ra'am would not demand recognition of Palestine or similar language in coalition negotiations. While recognition of Palestine remains a principled stance for Ra'am, Abbas clarified it will not be a political demand.

This development follows Ra'am's pre-election meeting and Abbas's expressed ambition to make history with this alliance.
