Shlomo Filber mocks the left over credit and blame for Trump and Netanyahu
Political debate in Israel has intensified amid major international developments, including the surprise interim agreement between the United States and Iran and continued efforts to bring the hostages home. Against that backdrop, strategic consultant Shlomo Filber posted a sharp message on social media aimed at critics of the government, especially what he called the left-wing camp.
In the post, Filber argued that his opponents apply a built-in bias when judging political events. He wrote, in his words, that the whole doctrine can be summed up as, "the successes of Trump, the failures of Netanyahu, all the left’s theory on one foot."
Filber said that when there is a diplomatic or humanitarian achievement, the credit is assigned entirely to the Israeli prime minister. He gave the example of hostage-release negotiations, saying, "When Trump succeeds in negotiations, in bringing back hostages for example, it is Trump (and Miriam)."
By contrast, he said that when there is a setback or failed negotiation, the blame is shifted to Benjamin Netanyahu, even though the decisions belong to the American superpower. His example was talks with Iran, where he wrote, "When Trump fails in negotiations, with the Iranians for example, it is Netanyahu."
