Iran Planned Assassination Attempt on Israeli PM Netanyahu's Son in Miami Area
An American source revealed that an Iranian regime cell operated in the Miami area, closely monitoring the daily routine of Yair Netanyahu, son of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with the intent to assassinate him. The plot was set to unfold in Florida, where Yair Netanyahu was residing in Hollywood Beach near Miami. Israeli intelligence uncovered the plan in December of the previous year. The Iranian operatives conducted extensive surveillance around Yair Netanyahu's residence and activities. Upon discovering the threat, urgent intelligence was relayed to U.S. authorities, who immediately instructed Yair Netanyahu to leave the area. Consequently, he had to abandon personal belongings and return to Israel swiftly.
Prime Minister Netanyahu publicly confirmed the assassination attempt, stating in a Channel 14 interview that Iran targeted one of his sons and tried to kill him. He emphasized the necessity of security for his children, noting that without it, the attempt could have succeeded. On July 16, the Israeli Cabinet approved lifetime security for Netanyahu and his wife, Sara, with his children receiving protection for five years even if he leaves office. The Shin Bet and Mossad assessed that Netanyahu and his family face a high-level threat due to Iranian retaliation for the assassination of senior Iranian figures during ongoing conflicts.
