After his petition win, Ofer Winter prepares a public campaign tour
A few days after unveiling his “petition of decision,” retired Brigadier General Ofer Winter is moving from principle to practice and will soon hold a series of home meetings across Israel. The gatherings are meant to give him a platform to present his strategic vision while he considers his next steps in public and political life.
The outreach follows a notable show of support for Winter, who managed to collect more than 10,000 public signatures in just two and a half weeks. The petition was intended to build public pressure on the heads of the security establishment and on political leaders.
Winter’s core message calls for a deep strategic change in the way Israel handles the two-front war in Gaza and Lebanon. He argues that the current approach requires a full reset, and that the public response to his petition shows broad support for his criticism of the war’s management.
In the principles document he published, Winter sharply criticized the operational patterns of recent years. He said Israel must stop relying on limited “rounds of fighting” and a reactive posture, and instead shift immediately to sustained, forceful offensive initiative aimed at achieving a clear decision over the threats. The upcoming meetings are expected to serve as the opening of a broader public base that could accompany him in a future political bid.
