Iranian Involvement Fuels Rising Threats Against IDF Along Syrian Border

Israeli security officials report a significant increase in warnings about explosive devices planted against Israel Defense Forces (IDF) operating in the buffer zone along the Syrian border. Alongside this, there is a marked rise in Iranian involvement in orchestrating terrorist plots targeting Israeli troops in the area. The IDF continues its operations in the buffer zone and the Mount Hermon region to prevent terrorist groups from establishing footholds near the border.

The heightened alert comes amid ongoing efforts to thwart attacks, particularly those involving explosive devices and local terrorist cells supported by external actors. Iranian attempts to promote terror activities from Syrian territory have raised additional concerns within Israel's defense establishment. Consequently, the number of thwarted terrorist attempts has increased, leading to expanded counterterrorism operations and a growing number of neutralized militants in the region.

These developments were highlighted by Defense Minister Israel Katz during his visit to Mount Hermon, where he reaffirmed Israel's commitment to maintaining a military presence in the area as long as threats persist. Katz emphasized that the Israeli presence reflects lessons learned from the October 7 events, stating, "As long as there are threats, the IDF will remain here to ensure our security."
