Israeli Military Attributes Deadly Syria Border Attackers to Iran
Israeli security officials have assessed that the two militants killed over the weekend near the Syria border were sent by Iran, according to a report by Kan News on Monday evening. The incident occurred late Saturday night near the village of Hadar, about one kilometer from the Israeli border. The two armed militants were attempting to infiltrate either an Israeli military outpost in the Syrian buffer zone or one of the Israeli communities in the Golan Heights, with the intent to carry out attacks against Israeli Defense Forces personnel or civilians.
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) have not yet identified the militants, but their origin from an area known for Iranian-backed Shiite militias has led to the prevailing assessment that Iran or its Quds Force dispatched them. Security sources told Kan News that Iran is seeking to destabilize the region, especially following the recent "Operation Roaring Lion," by orchestrating attacks through proxies in the West Bank, Lebanon, and Syria.
In related developments, Israeli-Syrian talks are expected to resume under U.S. pressure after a period of stagnation, with Syria reportedly reluctant to act against Hezbollah for fear of being seen as supporting Israel.
