Israeli Forces Eliminate Terror Cell En Route to Israel in Southern Syria

Israeli military forces neutralized a terrorist cell in southern Syria that was reportedly on its way to infiltrate Israel and carry out an attack deep inside the country. The operation involved coordinated ground and air actions, including strikes by combat helicopters and unmanned aerial vehicles. The cell was targeted shortly before reaching the border, following intelligence that indicated their intent to penetrate Israeli territory through the Wadi area.

The engagement began during a 24-hour mission where two IDF companies occupied old Syrian outposts. Concurrently, special forces acted against the cell, which was believed to be linked to militants from the group led by Muhammad al-Julani. After establishing additional positions and striking the militants, local fighters were called to the village of Abdin to confront Israeli troops. When an IDF unit withdrew from one of the outposts, it came under fire but responded effectively, completing the extraction without casualties.

Following the firefight, Israeli attack helicopters and drones continued operations to locate additional militants. It was assessed that the militants arrived on motorcycles from nearby villages and were evacuated by trucks after the incident. The IDF spokesperson confirmed no Israeli casualties and emphasized ongoing efforts to secure the area and eliminate threats to Israeli civilians and security forces.
