Davidson Institute Launches Advanced Science Education in Haredi Schools in Beit Shemesh

Six Haredi educational institutions in Beit Shemesh have been selected to participate in a groundbreaking initiative to integrate advanced scientific and technological education while preserving their religious character. This program is a collaboration between the Beit Shemesh municipality, the Haredi district of the Ministry of Education, and the Davidson Institute for Science Education, affiliated with the Weizmann Institute of Science.

The initiative provides these schools with rich resources, expert pedagogical support, and close professional guidance from Davidson Institute researchers. The curriculum is carefully tailored to harmonize scientific and technological excellence with the Torah values and spiritual lifestyle of the Haredi community, ensuring that academic achievement complements religious education.

Among the participating schools is the girls' school "Beit Yaakov, Netzach Yisrael," whose principal, Chani Gargal, praised the program as a modern educational approach that equips students with advanced STEM tools while maintaining religious values. Education Minister Yoav Kisch described the launch as a significant milestone in making advanced science and technology education accessible across all sectors of Israeli society. He emphasized the ministry's commitment to providing high-quality education to every student regardless of background.

This initiative is part of broader efforts by the Haredi district of the Ministry of Education to adapt the Haredi education system to 21st-century challenges while safeguarding its traditional identity and values.
