Smotrich Signals Openness to Right-Wing Unity Amid Winter's New Party Launch

Bezalel Smotrich, chairman of the Religious Zionism party, addressed concerns about fragmentation within the right-wing bloc following Itamar Ben-Gvir's announcement of a new party. This development has raised worries among right-wing factions and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's circle that multiple parties could split votes, causing many to be wasted and reducing the bloc's overall mandate count.

Speaking at a private event in Efrat, Smotrich emphasized his willingness to unite, stating he has previously merged parties and remains open to alliances. He urged the public to reject dangerous splits driven by irresponsible individuals who see themselves as saviors. Smotrich acknowledged that while not all parties are perfect, the proliferation of factions threatens the right-wing's electoral strength, referencing the 92-seat scenario as a cautionary example.

When asked about efforts to prevent vote splitting and potential cooperation with Winter, Smotrich said he is actively working toward unity but noted some refuse to engage with existing parties. He called on voters to give zero legitimacy to harmful divisions. The remarks come amid Winter's new party formation, which adds uncertainty to the right-wing bloc's composition ahead of upcoming elections and raises fears that further splits could hinder passing the electoral threshold.
