Right-Wing Activist Placed Under House Arrest After Incident Involving Lucy Aharish
Right-wing activist Mordechai David was released Monday to five days of house arrest after being detained over an incident outside a courthouse. According to police, he is suspected of blocking the path of journalist Lucy Aharish and her husband, actor Tzachi Halevi, as they were leaving the building.
Police said that when the report arrived, an investigation was opened in the Judea and Samaria District. Investigators collected evidence and testimony and arrested six suspects on suspicion of involvement. The force said the case is being handled "professionally and without bias" and with all available tools to get to the truth and bring every person involved to justice.
The episode follows earlier clashes between David and the couple. In February, David was taken in for questioning after he arrived with other activists to protest outside Aharish and Halevi's home. That protest escalated into a heated verbal confrontation between the sides, which was recorded and circulated on social media.
