Tel Aviv Court Issues Summons Order Against Far-Right Activist Mordechai David

The Tel Aviv Magistrate's Court issued a summons order against far-right activist Mordechai David on Thursday after he failed to appear at a scheduled hearing. The court also criticized both David and his attorney for their absence. The hearing concerned a criminal complaint filed by Il Meitlin, supported by the organization "Detention Surrounding Unit," accusing David of physical assault and threatening harassment.

At the start of the hearing, Meitlin's lawyer noted that the session was set for 11:30 a.m., but by 11:48 neither David nor his attorney had arrived. The lawyer requested the court to issue a summons order and to impose legal costs on David. The judge expressed confusion over the absence of David and his counsel despite the hearing being scheduled with their knowledge and decided to postpone the hearing.

The court rescheduled the hearing for September 22, 2026, at 8:30 a.m. and ordered the summons against David, allowing for his release if he signs a 1,000 shekel commitment. The judge also granted David's attorney time to respond to the request for legal costs, which was filed due to judicial time wasted. The attorney's response is due by July 10, 2026.
