Gaza Residents Begin Destroying Kites Amid Israeli Warnings to Prevent Attacks

In recent days, residents and merchants in Gaza have started destroying kites following Israeli warnings about the potential resumption of kite launches toward Israeli border communities. Videos circulated on Gaza channels show people tearing apart kites and urging parents to stop their children from flying them. A statement from a group called "The Popular Committees in the Displaced Camps in Gaza" called for immediate cooperation to prevent kite flying, citing the "most dangerous security situation" and the risk of Israeli military retaliation.

One video features a resident saying, "Here, we are acting according to your instructions, Haj Netanyahu," while another emphasizes that the destruction of kites is "for the sake of Gaza's children." The statement urged parents to increase supervision to avoid turning innocent play into a deadly tragedy amid ongoing tensions.

Israeli authorities have expressed concern over the return of kite launches, which in the past were used as incendiary devices causing fires in Israeli communities near Gaza. Israeli leadership has warned that areas from which kites are launched may face evacuation if the phenomenon continues. Hamas has denied responsibility for the kite launches, accusing Israel of using them as a pretext for attacks in Gaza.
