Israeli Police Arrest Four Suspects in Attack on Bnei Sakhnin Players After Match

Following a violent incident after the Maccabi Netanya versus Bnei Sakhnin football match on August 24, Israeli police arrested four suspects linked to attacks on players and fans. The incident involved a group of Netanya supporters assaulting Bnei Sakhnin players, including the targeting of player Iyad Abu Abid's vehicle, as well as other hostile acts against rival team members and fans near the stadium in Netanya.

Police from the Netanya station in the Sharon district launched an investigation after multiple violent events occurred at and around the Miriam Stadium. The suspects reportedly attacked players and fans as they exited the stadium and later assaulted passengers in vehicles during traffic congestion, damaging several car windows.

Law enforcement officers deployed for match security acted swiftly to stop the violence and prevent further clashes. Overnight, police used technological tools to identify and detain four suspects: two minors and two adults. The minors were interrogated and subsequently banned from attending football matches, while the adults were brought to court for detention extension hearings. The investigation continues to hold all involved accountable.

The Israeli police emphasized their zero-tolerance policy toward violence at sporting events, committing to use all available means to identify offenders, ban them from stadiums, and ensure safe attendance for sports fans.
