Israeli Border Police Officers Indicted for Accepting Bribes to Smuggle Illegal Entrants in Jerusalem

The Israeli Police Investigations Department (Mahash) has filed an indictment at the Jerusalem District Court against two Border Police officers accused of accepting bribes to facilitate the illegal entry of unauthorized individuals into Israel. The officers, who served at the Al-Jib checkpoint near Jerusalem, allegedly allowed people and vehicles that were not permitted to enter the country to pass without proper inspection on multiple occasions.

According to the indictment, one of the officers coordinated in advance with another suspect to enable unauthorized crossings, sometimes hiding illegal entrants in his vehicle. In return, the officer reportedly received thousands of shekels in bribes on three separate occasions. The case highlights ongoing concerns about corruption and security breaches at border checkpoints in the Jerusalem area.

The legal proceedings are now underway at the Jerusalem District Court, where the accused officers will face charges related to bribery and facilitating illegal entry into Israel. The investigation and indictment underscore efforts by Israeli authorities to combat corruption within security forces and maintain border integrity.
