Israel Railways Launches Special Summer Campaign to Return Lost Items to Owners

During the busy summer months, Israel Railways has seen a significant increase in passengers, including regular commuters, families, teenagers, and travelers heading to summer outings, flights from Ben Gurion Airport, and cruises from Haifa. As a result, a wide variety of items have been left behind on trains and at stations, ranging from hats, tefillin, prayer books, violins, fishing rods, and unopened duty-free packages to scooters, mobile phones, laptops, tablets, wireless headphones, baby strollers, and car boosters.

So far this summer, the Lost and Found department has handled approximately 5,000 items, including hundreds of electronic devices and personal belongings. Due to the accumulation of lost items, Israel Railways has initiated a special campaign to expedite the return of these belongings to their owners. The campaign will run from August 25 to 31, 2026, extending the Lost and Found office hours at Tel Aviv Savidor Central Station until 7 p.m. from Tuesday to Monday.

Israel Railways operates two Lost and Found offices located at Tel Aviv Savidor Central and Haifa Central stations, typically open from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. The special campaign will introduce a fast-track service for claimants to retrieve their lost items more efficiently. The initiative aims to clear the storage facilities that have become overcrowded due to the summer influx of passengers and their forgotten belongings.
