Apple Unveils the New Season of 'Trying'
The British comedy starring Esther Smith and Rafe Spall returns on July 8. The new trailer shows the family crisis awaiting Nikki and Jason after the surprise appearance of the biological mother of their children.
Apple TV has unveiled the official trailer for the fifth season of the British comedy series "Trying," ahead of its return to the streaming service on July 8. The new season will include eight episodes. The first episode will premiere on July 8, followed by a new episode every week through August 26.
According to Apple’s official synopsis, the fifth season will focus on Nikki and Jason, played by Esther Smith and Rafe Spall, who must deal with the consequences of Cat’s appearance, the biological mother of Princess and Tyler. Her unexpected arrival at their doorstep threatens to disrupt the family routine they have built over the years.
Alongside Smith and Spall, Scarlett Rayner and Cooper Turner also return as Princess and Tyler, along with Charlotte Riley, Darren Boyd, Sian Brooke, Celine Imrie, Phil Davis, Gbemisola Ikumelo and Colin Morgan.
"Trying" was created by Andy Walton, who also serves as writer and executive producer. The series is produced by BBC Studios for Apple TV.
Since its debut in 2020, "Trying" has become one of Apple TV’s standout comedies. According to the company, the series has received praise from critics and audiences over the years and holds a 96 percent critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes.
Along with the trailer reveal, Apple announced that the fifth season’s soundtrack is being handled by Irish singer-songwriter Orla Gartland. The season will feature new original songs by her, and the new single "At The End Of The Day" already appears in the trailer released this week.
The fifth season of "Trying" will premiere on Apple TV on July 8.
