Iran Threatens Saudi Arabia and UAE to Evacuate US Bases or Face Attack Amid New US Sanctions
Iran has issued a direct threat to Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates, demanding they remove American military bases from their territories or face military attacks. This warning comes in response to new US sanctions expected to be announced by President Donald Trump on Monday evening. Israeli officials warn that if Iran acts on this threat, it could significantly increase the chances of a regional war.
Earlier, US Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin described the escalating economic pressure on Iran as a "final phase" and a "D-Day" financial assault, calling it the largest financial attack ever launched against an enemy. Trump declared that "Iran is collapsing completely." According to Reuters, the US Treasury is set to expand sanctions targeting countries and entities conducting business with Iran, potentially applying to entire sectors of the Iranian economy. Mnuchin emphasized that Iran's survival was enabled by "extortion disguised as security promises," which ended under Trump’s administration.
In response, Iran’s Deputy Foreign Minister Qassem Gharibabadi criticized Mnuchin’s statements, calling them contradictory and dismissing the US narrative of dismantling Iran’s military and nuclear capabilities. He accused Washington of repeatedly threatening Iran’s demise over 48 years under different names but asserted Iran remains resilient and strong.
Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi acknowledged the ongoing economic, military, and security war against Iran but affirmed the country’s steadfastness and commitment to serve the nation. Mohsen Rezaei, Secretary of Iran’s Supreme National Security Council and military advisor to Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, warned that Trump’s aggressive policies have pushed the world toward a nuclear arms race. Rezaei vowed Iran would not surrender despite US economic sanctions and threatened a strong military response to any new US aggression.
Rezaei also warned regional countries against participating in the US economic campaign, threatening to target their interests and block oil exports from the Persian Gulf and Strait of Hormuz if they cooperate with the US. Meanwhile, Oman’s Foreign Minister is scheduled to visit Iran to continue talks regarding the Strait of Hormuz.
This escalation follows Trump’s announcement of intensified sanctions and reflects deepening tensions between Iran, the US, and Gulf states, raising fears of broader conflict in the Middle East.
