Kevin Rubin Opens Up: I Wear Tefillin and Keep Shabbat, and I Want to Pass That on to My Children
A few days after becoming a father for the second time, Kevin Rubin is revealing a more personal and lesser-known side of his life. In an interview with Srugim, held at the launch event for the new FLY CARD cards from El Al’s Frequent Flyer Club, he explains how the birth of his son Kai led him to start wearing tefillin again, why his wife, Daniella Rubin, was the one who encouraged him to become more observant, and how he is already passing these values on to the next generation. "Since Kai was born, I decided to go back to wearing tefillin"
Rubin said the change actually began after he became a father for the first time. "Since Kai was born, I decided to go back to wearing tefillin," he shared. According to him, the person who renewed his connection to tradition was his wife, Daniella Rubin, who converted in recent years. "Dani did a conversion and she is very close to religion. After Kai was born she said to me: 'Kevin, why don't you wear tefillin?' And then I said to myself, right, why don't I wear tefillin?"
"My tefillin were already invalid"
Rubin said that after that conversation he went to check his old tefillin and discovered they were no longer kosher. "I went and bought new tefillin, and I really enjoy it," he said. He added that alongside putting on tefillin, he also tries to keep Shabbat from time to time. "A few times a year I also keep Shabbat, I make my efforts. It makes me feel good."

"I want to pass this on to Kai"
The creator and host said it is important to him to pass these values on to his children as well. "I want Kai to do what is best for him, but I raise him in my way," he said. According to him, his son is already learning to say "Shema Yisrael," a small moment that moves him במיוחד as a father. "Everything I receive, I receive from Him"
Alongside his career and success, Rubin says faith has become a significant part of his life in recent years. "I really enjoy it, I believe, and I think everything I receive, I get from God," he shared.
