Israeli Police Brace for Retaliation After Assassination of Caucasus Mafia Leader Yanis Yoshibayev

Yanis Yoshibayev, a prominent figure in the Caucasus mafia operating mainly in the Sharon region of Israel, was assassinated in broad daylight near Caesarea and Or Akiva on August 24, 2026. The killing, described by police sources as an "earthquake" in the criminal underworld, was carried out at close range as Yoshibayev left a restaurant. Known for his deep connections within organized crime and involvement in extortion disputes, Yoshibayev had been a high-profile intelligence target for Israeli law enforcement for years.
