Tens of Thousands Gather on Mount of Olives for Rabbi Shomrei Emunim's Yahrzeit

Thousands of Jewish worshippers from diverse communities convened overnight and throughout the day on the Mount of Olives to honor the yahrzeit of the revered Rabbi Shomrei Emunim. The event, held on the fifth of Elul, has grown in recent years to become one of the largest annual pilgrimages to the rabbi's holy gravesite.

Extensive logistical preparations were made, including a national transportation system and spacious hospitality areas, to accommodate the massive influx of pilgrims. The charity organization "Rachima D'Avraham Shomrei Emunim" managed large tents and air-conditioned shelters providing abundant food, cold drinks, and hot meals around the clock, as well as a dedicated and expanded area for women.

The pilgrimage reached its peak during the night and on the day of the yahrzeit, with worshippers praying fervently for communal and personal salvation. A particularly moving moment occurred at sunset when the crowd united in an emotional recitation of the "Shema Yisrael," invoking blessings and healing through the merit of the righteous rabbi.

Security forces and event coordinators ensured smooth flow and safety throughout the event. Organized shuttle services operated frequently from major ultra-Orthodox centers including Jerusalem, Bnei Brak, and Beit Shemesh, safely transporting thousands directly to the sacred site. Participants departed uplifted, confident that their prayers at the tzaddik’s resting place would bring abundant blessings for the coming year.
