Israeli-French Singer Amir Haddad Reveals Mezuzah Removed from Paris Home Amid Rising Antisemitism

Israeli-French singer Amir Haddad disclosed during a concert in Tel Aviv last Thursday that the mezuzah at the entrance of his Paris home was forcibly removed shortly before his departure to Israel. Haddad discovered the missing mezuzah when he went to say goodbye to it before heading to the airport. During his performance, he shared his distress over the incident and highlighted the difficult reality faced by Jews in France today. He described the act as reflective of the current atmosphere in France and the Western world but emphasized his refusal to succumb to fear or threats. "They touched an object that was important to me, but they will never touch what is inside us," Haddad said, expressing hope that this troubling period will pass and justice will ultimately prevail. His remarks were met with applause from the audience.

Haddad’s comments come amid growing concerns among French Jews due to a rise in antisemitic incidents. According to the French Interior Ministry, 1,320 antisemitic acts were recorded in France in 2025. Born in Paris and having moved to Israel as a child, Haddad gained fame in France through the TV show "The Voice" and represented France in the 2016 Eurovision Song Contest, building a successful career there since.
